DTC 44

DTC 44

Originally owned and built by Troy Francis from Elsemere Port in 1987.
Original spec included a TS1 225, with a 60mm crank with a Japanese conrod and piston,
34mm Amal carb, PM Tuning exhaust and a MB hydraulic clutch.

Thanks to go Mark Begley from the Northern Aces S.C. for the follow information and the pictures.

A lad in our club used to own this DTC lambretta 'FEEL THE NEED'. It ended up in germany
and after a while that owner rebuilt it as 'SIMPSON RACER' and after a smash he then cut it down fitted
vega legshields etc and was 'SIMPSONRACER 2'

Obviously this one will never been seen again

Another update on this scooter, this time from the original owner John Walkington

Many thanks to John for sharing this information.

"The original owner and builder was me between 1989 and 1990.
I swapped it with Troy for his new T5, after locking the front disc and coming
off after picking it up from Macca's and then the bloody carb decided to eat a new
road surface and ate the piston, and i couldn't afford to rebuild it.

All the body work was fibreglass, the engine was race tuned by AF.
The hydraulic clutch was the first Marc Broadhurst ever did, after I
spotted him advertising hydraulic clutch conversions whilst he was still working at beedspeed.

The paintwork is a reverse genesis, the base coat was black with blue eerie dess,
the speed blocks being dayglo red and signal yellow.
No stickers, Macca hated them, all of it is sign writing.
Chrome was by the much missed sylmar electroplating of Chester, at which a couple of the
club members (northern savages) incl Troy worked. Overal cost approx 4k.

The connection with the simpson bandit is pure supposition as the engine spec
on both machines is far to similar, not to be coincidence.

I decided on the name "I Feel The Need" as in I feel the need, the need for speed!
Also number 44 isn't random and is very significant to me, it was the age of my oldman when he was killed in an RTC."
